How to Perform Side-Lying Toe Taps

Lie on your side with your hips stacked.

Keep the lower leg bent if that makes the position more stable.

Extend the top leg and keep the toes facing generally forward.

From there:

  1. Keep the pelvis stacked rather than rolling backward.

  2. Gently tighten the abdominal muscles.

  3. Lift the top leg only slightly.

  4. Move the foot through the tapping pattern shown in the video.

  5. Keep the movement slow and controlled.

  6. Avoid swinging the leg.

  7. Return to the starting position.

  8. Repeat five to ten times.

A small range is often enough.

How to Perform Standing Toe Taps

Stand tall with your weight on one leg.

Use a wall, chair, or countertop for light support if needed.

Keep the stance knee slightly bent.

Then:

  1. Keep your pelvis level.

  2. Maintain a stable trunk.

  3. Tap the opposite foot gently in the chosen direction.

  4. Return to the starting position.

Not very high.
